Job Description

St. Josephs Academy seeks a Family and Consumer Science Teaching Assistant for Sewing to support high school students in learning sewing techniques and clothing design. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clothing construction and apparel design with a passion for teaching and mentoring students.
Skills:
- Strong computer/technology skills
- An understanding in basic sewing terminology and techniques
- Ability to problem solve and take initiative
- Ability to interact with high school age females
- General understanding of basic clothing fitting and pattern alterations/manipulation
- Prep materials needed for demonstration and sewing sample practice
- Flexible schedule to remain after school occasionally to assist students to catch up on missed class work
- Shop with students outside of class time to assist is purchasing fabric for class projects
- Create ways through technology to improve the sewing experience for the students
- Assist teacher as needed and instruct students when called upon
