Job Description
Tower Engineering Professionalsis seeking a fulltime employee for an Excavator Operator at our Charlotte N.C. location. Job Description:
As a Utility Crew Excavator Operator you will play a crucial role in supporting various utility projects. Your responsibilities will encompass the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery primarily loaders with a focus on utilityrelated tasks. Key duties include:
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate excavators to perform tasks such as grading and material handling in the context of utility projects.
- Perform general as well as skilled duties to prepare the grade and to install water lines sewer lines storm drain and other types of pipes to the proposed elevation slope and percent of grade
- grade Operate any size excavator from a miniexcavator to a 300 series excavator. Ability to operate other equipment such as rollers off road trucks backhoe loader skid steer etc. is a plus.
- Ensure the safe and efficient use of the equipment to meet project specifications.
- Utility Installation:
- Assist in the installation of utility lines including water sewer and drainage systems.
- Collaborate with the utility crew to prepare trenches for utility placement.
- Material Handling:
- Load and unload materials required for utility construction such as pipes fittings concrete structures and backfill materials as well as keeping up with bedding materials.
- Transport materials to designated locations within the construction site.
- Site Maintenance:
- Support the utility crew in maintaining a clean and organized construction site.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies with a particular emphasis on utilityrelated safety protocols.
- Conduct preoperational checks on equipment to ensure safe working conditions.
- Communication:
- Collaborate closely with the utility crew supervisors and other construction professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Loader Operator in utility construction or related field.
- Proficient in the operation of loaders and other heavy machinery.
- Strong understanding of utility construction processes and safety requirements.
- Any additional relevant certifications related to utility construction will be an asset.
- Ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects as required.
- Capable of working collaboratively in a utility crew environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body such as standing lifting walking stooping bending reaching and handling of materials equipment and tools.
- Lifts pushes pulls and carries heavy objects machinery and tools.
- Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.
- Exposed to exhaust fumes gasoline and diesel fuel.
- May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.
- May be exposed to loud noise.
