Job Description

Business Insider is hiring a Wall Street correspondent to join our finance team and break news on whats really going on inside the biggest banks.

Were looking for a seasoned finance reporter who is heavily sourced on Wall Street has a track record of publishing scoops and knows how to identify big trends and themes in the financial industry. This correspondent would focus on big financial firms including JPMorgan Goldman Sachs Bank of America Morgan Stanley Citi and BlackRock.

The Wall Street correspondent will be energized by the goal of informing our readers about what its like to work on Wall Street and how thats evolving and being disrupted. This person should have the drive to cover Wall Street culture who are the rising stars and how Csuite shakeups impact employees at all levels.

Our most loyal audience the ambitious disruptive businessobsessed readers want the inside scoop on whats happening across Wall Street. These readers dont just want to stay uptodate on the news they want a smart friend to tell them why it matters and how to talk about it with colleagues.

BIs finance team covers Wall Street banks hedge funds privateequity firms and asset managerswhat goes on inside those firms and what its like to work there. They deliver scoops deeply reported features profiles of people our readers should know firstperson accounts and smart analysis.

The position is based in our New York City HQ. The role is unioneligible.

  • Give readers an upclose look at life in Wall Street workplaces from the office to the pub
  • Make the coverage fun and accessible to those who dont closely follow Wall Street

The Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the financial sector proven success on a beat and previous experience covering Wall Street firms and banks
  • Reporting chops and tenacity
  • Strong writing ability featuring quick accurate and conversational copy
  • The ability to distill complex financial topics in a way thats accessible to readers

Salary & Benefits

  • Base salary: $120000 $160000 (dependent on skills experience and competencies)
