Empowerment Childcare Teacher
$500 SIGN ON BONUS

FLSA Classification: Nonexempt
Date Approved: February 5 2025
Pay: Starting at $15.75/hour; with potential for higher rates based on education and experience.
Summary
The Empowerment Childcare Teacher ensures the safety wellbeing and engagement of children in the Empowerment Childcare Center. This position provides structured activities maintains a clean and sanitary environment and supports children and their families with professionalism and care. Serving both Motherlove participants and members this role promotes a safe and stimulating environment while maintaining compliance with program guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Childcare and Supervision
  • Maintain a safe clean and welcoming environment by following prescribed sanitation methods and organizing the space efficiently.
  • Greet parents warmly ensuring confidence in the quality of care provided.
  • Supervise and engage children in ageappropriate activities implementing approved redirection methods when necessary.
  • Prepare and serve healthy food options in compliance with established guidelines.
Program Operations and Compliance
  • Monitor staffing levels to maintain childtostaff ratios adjusting intake as needed. Facilitate volunteer activities ensuring adherence to protocols.
  • Enforce signin and signout procedures and report noncompliance such as late pickups to the Director.
  • Keep all child and parent records including contact details and allergy information accurate and up to date.
Family Engagement
  • Provide daily updates on childrens activities progress and any concerns.
  • Coordinate with parents regarding necessary provisions and offer guidance as appropriate.
  • Conduct parent/teacher conferences and home visits (if required) to support childrens development.
  • Maintain a professional and supportive approach in all interactions.
Classroom Management and Teaching
  • Create and maintain a safe nurturing and inclusive learning environment aligned with health and safety regulations.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities in collaboration with the CoTeacher.
  • Foster cognitive social emotional and physical development through creative and structured activities while modeling respectful behavior.
Collaboration and Teamwork
  • Work closely with the CoTeacher to manage classroom operations including scheduling and lesson planning.
  • Engage volunteers effectively and coordinate with service providers to integrate health nutrition family and special education services.
  • Administrative and Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records including assessments and documentation for school transitions.
  • Ensure daily sanitation of classroom surfaces toys and facilities.
  • Stay informed on best practices in early childhood education and participate in professional development training.
  • Support YWCA initiatives including promoting healthy lifestyles and childhood obesity prevention.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and structured environment.
  • Ability to engage with children effectively while promoting a positive and nurturing atmosphere.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with parents children and staff.
  • Capacity to follow health safety and program guidelines.
  • Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EDU119 (or willingness to obtain certification).
  • Prior experience working with children in a daycare setting. Private nanny or babysitting experience also accepted with a reference provided.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • CRC Background Check clearance.
Working Conditions
  • May be scheduled to work some hours at an alternate location the Family Justice Center.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including day and evening hours and some Saturday mornings.
  • Regular interaction with children in an active environment which may involve managing challenging behavior.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods engage in physical activities with children and assist with light cleaning.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Travel Required:
Minimal travel may be required for supplies or program needs.
