Protection Engineer General Description of Role and Responsibilities:
Expertise in highvoltage power systems to design implement and maintain protection schemes for substations transmission and distribution networks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for relay coordination fault analysis and ensuring the reliability of power system protection.
Specialized experience in Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations and HVDC Converter Station protection design installation and commissioning.
Design and configure protective relay settings for various applications including distance differential overcurrent and earth fault protection
Conduct testing and commissioning of protection relays CTs/PTs and switchgear in substations and power plants.
Collaborate with utilities contractors and vendors to ensure proper implementation of protection systems.
Design implement and test converter station protection schemes including pole protection valve group protection DC line protection and AC/DC system coordination.
Qualifications Experience Knowledge and Skills:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Power Systems or a related field.
Strong background in EHV substation protection and HVDC converter station protection
Handson experience with relay setting software
Strong understanding of power system protection principles and relay coordination
