Salary:32244
Working hours: 40hours per week 8:30am16:30pm 39 weeks per year
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech & Language Therapist to join our specialist day college in Pontypool. This role involves working with 22 pupils aged 1625 years who have a broad range of physical and learning disabilities including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). You will play a key role in ensuring that students gain the skills and confidence to communicate effectively as part of their journey towards living as independently as possible. What will your responsibilities be:
- Assess plan implement and evaluate therapy programmes for learners with complex communication needs to support their development and learning.
- Promote the development of students communication skills across the college supporting wider learning and taking an active role in the development of new provisions.
- Accurately record all therapeutic interventions.
- Complete complex assessments precollege assessments and if appropriately trained dysphagia assessments where required.
- Provide supervision and support to SLTs.
- Offer professional advice training and information to college staff.
Qualifications and Experiences:
- HCPC registered
- Willingness to undertake dysphagia training
- Experience and understanding of PMLD AAC ASD and ABI
