L.J. Gonzer Associates is looking for individuals to join our pool of qualified candidates for potential assignment as an Analytical Chemist. The Analytical Chemist will be involved in the research development and production of specialized materials. Responsibilities will include the following:
Conduct complex multiinstrument analysis on various materials for electrochemical energy storage nanomaterials catalysts and other materials as needed. Samples must be analyzed in a timely manner and results reported back to allow for process improvements. This task will be conducted daily.
Troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance of analytical instruments. Calibrate instruments as needed.
Schedule instrument manufacturers technical support for annual preventative maintenance.
Write safety plan for maintenance to be performed.
Train users on the correct operation of instruments.
Monitor users to insure proper procedures are followed. Keep instrument usage logs.
Write and periodically update SOPs and safety documentation for instrument operation. The documents will be updated on an annual basis or sooner if new protocols or sample materials are introduced.

Expert level skills are required in the following categories: analytical techniques including ICPMS ICPOES XRD TGA/DSC SEMEDS ion beam mill and microwave sample digester.
10 years of experience with operating and maintaining modern analytical and materials characterization equipment that is typically found in laboratories conducting research in chemical synthesis.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Basic ability to use Microsoft Word Outlook and Excel for communications data analysis and tracking.
