Job Title: Middle School Art & Makerspace Teacher

Job Summary
Notre Dame Preparatory a Catholic middle school dedicated to academic excellence and faithbased education is seeking a passionate and creative Art & Makerspace Teacher. This individual will cultivate students artistic talents and creativity while integrating handson projectbased learning in the Makerspace program. The ideal candidate will inspire a love for art innovation and critical thinking within a faithfilled learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Faith Integration: Uphold and model Catholic values incorporating faithbased principles into lessons where appropriate.
- Art Education: Teach middle school art classes introducing students to various artistic media techniques and art history.
- Makerspace Instruction: Facilitate handson STEM and designbased learning experiences integrating creativity problemsolving and collaboration.
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with diocesan and state standards incorporating both traditional and digital artistic tools.
- Classroom Management: Establish a supportive and structured learning environment that fosters student growth and creativity.
- Assessment & Feedback: Evaluate student progress through projects portfolios and presentations providing constructive feedback.
- Collaboration: Work with fellow educators administration and parents to enhance the overall student learning experience.
- Extracurricular Involvement: Organize student art exhibits Makerspace showcases and potential afterschool programs or clubs.
- Resource Management: Maintain art supplies Makerspace equipment and technology tools ensuring a safe and organized classroom.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing learning and training to stay current with best practices in both art education and Makerspace instruction.
- IB Curriculum: Learn and develop under IB MYP including lesson plans and rubrics.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors degree in Art Education Fine Arts STEM Education or a related field (teaching certification preferred).
- Experience teaching art and/or Makerspace concepts at the middle school level.
- Proficiency with various artistic media design software and Makerspace tools (e.g. 3D printing coding robotics woodworking etc..
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Passion for integrating creativity problemsolving and faithbased education.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
