Host/Hostess Gypsy Kitchen Atlanta About Our Brand: Walk through the door at Gypsy Kitchen on the second floor of Buckhead Village and youll know youre about to experience something specialan eclectic bohemian escape & culinary adventure. The restaurant host/hostess is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter therestaurant. It is the job of the hostess to greet arriving guests welcome them into theestablishment and seat them. The guests receive their first impression of the service of therestaurant by their exchange with the hostess.
Responsibilities. The responsibilities of the host/hostess include monitoring the open dining sectionsof the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables estimating wait times for guests monitoring theguest waiting list and ensuring that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting. Thehostess is often responsible for answering the telephone booking reservations and moving tablestogether to accommodate large parties.
Significance: The host/hostess is a personal representation of the service and overall hospitality ofthe staff of the restaurant. While guests are waiting to be seated or waiting for takeout orders tobe ready it is the job of the hostess to ensure that the guests are made comfortable and keptinformed of the status of their orders or wait times. In some restaurants the hostess offers drinksto the guests who have to wait.
