Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated tutor to support a bright and curious 12yearold boy at home. He has a deep love for reading sketching and learning fascinating facts about music history and different countries. The ideal candidate will have strong neuroaffirming teaching skills particularly in Maths and be able to create a supportive flexible and engaging learning environment. Using inclusive multisensory teaching methods and incorporating his special interests into lessons will be key to fostering his enthusiasm for learning.
Main Purpose of the job:
To be a helping hand to an individual with unique and specific challenges and support needs giving him the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion to be a secure source of support to a neurodivergent individual is of the utmost importance.
Job Objectives:
Assist with breaking down tasks and chunking information as needed.
Facilitate his understanding and academic learning in a structured or semistructured environment by implementing a visual schedule to support planning and organisation. Collaborate effectively with his teachers and multidisciplinary team members when necessary.
Provide support and scaffolding for executive functioning skills including planning organising problemsolving and asking for help.
Help reduce uncertainty and ease potential anxiety by offering proactive support and identifying possible triggers.
Create and design visual learning resources as needed.
Able to assist with Grade 7 Afrikaans homework and revision and have strong maths tutoring skills.
Gather necessary materials for practical assignments and plan creative tutoring sessions using multisensory methods and his special interests. Adapt teaching approaches to align with his learning style with guidance from his educational assessment and provided training.

Job Related work experience:
Previous experience tutoring neurodivergent children Essential.
Previous experience tutoring/teaching intermediate or senior phase neurodivergent learners Essential.
Job Related Knowledge:
Familiarity and knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Essential.
Familiarity and knowledge of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) Essential.
Familiarity and knowledge of developmental coordination disorder (DCD/Dyspraxia) Desirable.
Job Related Qualifications:
Degree in Education (Intermediate or Senior Phase)
Job Related Skills:
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills Essential.
Strong tutoring skills (English Afrikaans and Maths) Essential.

Benefits
Working Hours:
- Tutoring sessions can take place either at his school in Gardens or at home in Sea Point depending on what works best for the family and the tutor s schedule.
- 3 6 hours per week scheduled in the afternoons between 15:00 18:00 (flexible and negotiable).
Hourly Rate:
- R250 R350 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
