Job Description
We rely on the shipper to start the day early to accomplish checking in freight right away so the technicians can get to work as they arrive. The shipper also ships out during the course of the day as well as receives freight.Shipping & Receiving Clerk has many jobs. Checking in the freight early in the morning. Using the Scan Gun to accomplish this task. Using the computer and printing out shipping labels. Boxing up packages to be shipped out. Putting special orders in the appropriate bin. Driving the forklift and moving engines and transmissions to the correct technician. Picking up cores from different places in the shop. ETC.
- Shipping orders: Picking and packing items according to customer orders Creating shipping labels and packing slips Loading items onto trucks for delivery Completing necessary shipping documents like bills of lading Coordinating with shipping carriers to schedule pickups Inventory management: Maintaining accurate inventory records Performing cycle counts to verify stock levels Reporting inventory shortages or discrepancies Administrative tasks: Updating shipping and receiving logs Processing returns and exchanges Responding to customer inquiries regarding order status Required skills: Physical ability: Lifting and moving heavy packages standing for extended periods ability to bend and reach Attention to detail: Accurately verifying quantities and identifying errors Organizational skills: Managing multiple tasks and maintaining a clean work area Basic computer skills: Using warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory and process orders Communication skills: Interacting with vendors drivers and internal teams
- Potential equipment used: Forklift Pallet jack Hand truck Barcode scanner and Computer and warehouse management system
- Be a quick learner drive a forklift be a good typist move quick lift heavy boxes.
