Job Description Summary

Under general supervision the Event and Program Assistant supports the of Reynolda House Museum of American Art & Reynolda Gardens events and programs that reflect the brand and provide guests with transformative experiences. Executes logistical requirements and physically sets up and breaks down events and programs. Provides administrative support for the department and museum through commitment creative efficiency and resourceful solutions.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Sets up for events and programs including tables chairs a/v equipment bar food glassware linens event equipment floral arrangements decorations lighting etc. Attends assigned programs and events to manage behindthescenes logistics. Provides a/v support before and during programs as assigned.

  • Pours beer wine and nonalcoholic beverages during special events. Removes and replaces furniture as needed.

  • Stores equipment and materials properly and in the correct areas.

  • Picks up returns and folds linens from the Facilities department.

  • Breaks down events in a timely manner.

  • Keeps records of alcohol consumption.

  • Shops for drinks food plates napkins silverware glassware and other supplies for museum.

  • Provides administrative support for department.

  • Interacts with museum donors members families and visitors.

  • Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Associates degree and at least three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Ability to organize priorities.

  • Effective communication skills both oral and written.

  • Ability to work as a team member and independently.

  • Knowledge of setup operation and maintenance of audiovisual equipment in a museum environment.

  • Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Office Google suite and other relevant software.

  • Ability to read understand and follow safety procedures.

  • Ability to work flexible schedule including after hours and/or weekends as specified by supervisor.

  • Knowledge of basic alcoholic beverage service and storage and/or ability to learn safe and appropriate practices quickly and effectively.

  • Must be able to meet the requirements of the Universitys automobile insurance policy.

Physical Requirements:Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Preferred Education Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Experience in a museum or art related field.
