Duties And Responsibilities
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the scope of work is similar related or a logical assignment to this classification. 1. Under direction of the Business Division Dean and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education Department Coordinator teach early childhood education and child development classes. 2. Assist in curriculum development. 3. Work with outside organizations and community groups to ensure currency of curriculum and support for the Early Childhood Education program. 4. Engage in a continuing program of personal professional development. 5. Assist in promoting the Early Childhood Education program in the community. 6. The instructor may consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours. 7. The assignment may include day evening and Saturday classes.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Masters or above in child development early childhood education human development home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters or above in social work educational supervision elementary education special education psychology bilingual/bicultural education life management/home economics family life studies or family and consumer studies OR the equivalent (see below) Demonstrated cultural competence sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students faculty and staff
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in a second language (Chinese Spanish Tagalog).
