Job Title: Residence Hall Graduate Assistant
Department: Life & Career Studies Program
Reports To: Life & Career Studies Program Coordinator
Status: Parttime an average of 10 12 hours per week 36week contract (late July to May)
Compensation: Private suite in staff residence hall and meal plan provided.
Summary:
Calvin University is looking for a dynamic motivated individual to be a Residence Hall Graduate Assistant in a traditional firstyear/sophomore residence hall. In this position you will act as a role model and ensure the safety and inclusion of Life & Career Studies Program (LCS) students on campus.
Responsibilities will include performing inperson checks encouraging participation in residence hall events problemsolving with residents assisting with roommate disagreements scheduling safe transportation and responding to emergency calls.
This position will also connect LCS students with social opportunities on campus and provide social coaching as needed.

This position is a 36week parttime livein position. Hours for this position are flexible but require the ability to work assigned weekends.
This is a great opportunity for a graduate student who is looking for a position with minimal commitment during the week but is available to work on the weekends.
Specific job duties:
1. Assist the supervising LCS Housing Manager with providing overall leadership to LCS students living on campus.
2. Availability to handle emergency calls on assigned day and evenings. Including two to three weekends a month.
3. Meet with LCS students individually when needed to help problemsolve issues frequently experienced by students adjusting to dorm life.
4. Meet with LCS students individually to help them identify inclusive activities and events they are interested in and facilitate peer connections.
6. Help coordinate promote and decrease barriers to LCS participation in residence life activities.
7. Assist in maintaining effective student relations by collaborating on retention efforts roommate negotiations and provide informal mentoring to contribute to students success and growth.
8. Attend a team meeting one day per week.
9. Attend meetings with Residence Life Student Conduct and LCS staff as available.
10. Participate in regular professional development and learning opportunities with other Graduate Assistants and colleagues as available.
