The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) has an exciting opportunity for a fulltime to work in Miami FL. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) administers nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse and ensures the health comfort and safety of patients. The incumbent provides quality care to designated patients and takes on various responsibilities such as participating in the planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care as well as cooperating with the members of the nursing and medical staff and other hospital departments.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Collects patient assessment data and notifies appropriate nurse of actual or potential problems and needs on an ongoing basis.
Records patient information concisely accurately and completely.
Administers medications and performs treatments and procedures for all patients as assigned.
Assists with preparation of patient materials or correspondence that RNs ARNPs or MDs utilize to communicate with organizations within or outside the University.
Assists in preoperative and postoperative health teaching for patients and families.
Shares responsibility for the planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care plans.
Participates in team conferences sharing knowledge information and ideas with team members.
Performs morecomplex nursing activities competence increases.
Communicates frequently with team leader regarding patients physical and mental conditions.
Adheres to University and unitlevel policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
Assist the physician in outpatient practices. Act as chaperone for examinations and procedures.
Performing clinical tasks in outpatient setting such as taking patient vital signs: temperature pulse blood pressure and respirations performing venipunctures fingersticks medication administration urodynamics testing PVRs and records in patient chart.
Reports any unusual findings to clinic provider. Assists in minor procedures such as colposcopies leeps cryotherapy hysteroscopies biopsies TOPs.
Recording patients medical history pharmacy information and completes pertinent screening questions in patient medical record.
Assists in preprocedure post procedure and/or relevant health teaching for patients and families Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication
Reviews follows up and reporting of laboratory test results.
Inventory and order medical lab and office supplies equipment.
Sign off on orders as per departmental protocols for providers for routine maintenance medications labs and diagnostic testing.
Clean and wrap medical instruments and autoclave for sterilization.
Ensure site compliance with infection control policies logs and quality assurance initiatives
Works collaboratively with both clinical MAs RNs clerical staff and providers within the practice/clinic setting to provide quality patientcare.
Follow up on UChart inbasket pool and results messages Rx refills as assigned.
May schedule appointments for patients in accordance to practice policy
Performs nursing duties as assigned.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
No experience required
Valid State of Florida LPN license Experience: No experience required
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings nights and weekends as necessary.

Any relevant education certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
