The RN / GN must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care from newborn through age 105. He/she must have the ability to assess evaluate identify and interpret the requirement and needs of the patients and perform based on those findings.
The RN / GN reports directly to Charge Nurse/Assistant Director/Director of Perioperative Services.
1. Demonstrates the knowledge of needs and task for SDS/PACU/Endo such as assessments obtaining patient history critical thinking skills notifying physician as needed specimens handwashing etc.
2. Holds self and other staff members accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patient in his/her work area and throughout the hospital.
3. Ensures selfcompliance with professional regulatory and government standards of care.
4. Demonstrates teamwork through communication cooperation coordination and conflict resolution with others and implementing multidisciplinary actions to provide continuity of care.
5. Ensures the satisfactory completion of clinical procedures documentation educational and procedural teaching of the patient and their significant other/parent before and after surgery.
6. Other duties as assigned.
1. Education:
a. RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
2. Licensure/Certification:
a. Must have a valid current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
b. PALS certification required if working PACU.
c. ACLS certification if caring for patients having procedures with sedation.
d. BLS Certification required.
3. Work Experience:
a. Prefer one year experience as medical/surgical staff nurse.
b. Successful completion of hospital orientation.
c. Membership in professional organization desirable.
