Job Description:
Our client within the Fintech payment platform space is seeking a Finance Manager who will form part of a team to establish and implement control frameworks, system upgrades, and enhancements, implement value-added reporting, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, coordinate and participate in projects, and make some of the critical decisions in the finance department.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions.
- Managing month-end and year-end close process & manage annual audits.
- Producing accurate financial reports and information related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses etc.
- Reviewing, monitoring, and managing budgets.
- Developing strategies that work to minimise financial risk.
- Ensuring the business meets all its statutory and compliance obligations, including statutory accounting and tax issues.
- Supervising staff.
- Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems.
- Performing other accounting duties and supporting staff as required or assigned.
- Develop, improve and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Participate in forward planning and the effective daily organisation activities, including business planning, financial forecasting and strategic decision making.
- Have an overview of the activities and budgets for each department to ensure the procedures laid down in the organisation’s financial regulations are adhered to.
- Effectively manage the performance of the team by carrying out progress reviews and ensuring objectives and key outputs are cascaded throughout the department.
- Deliver an excellent service to all the management and customers through financial management of the organisation when required to.
- To be fully conversant with new initiatives, new legislation and modern thinking in all matters relating to the financial management of the organization.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior financial role
- Relevant tertiary education (Honours Degree, CA (SA) or similar)
- Hands on experience with accounting software
- Strong attention to detail & excellent time-management skills
- A sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical and modelling skills
- Ability to operate independently & to work under pressure
- Team-working, conflict management and influencing/negotiating
- Ability to set targets, motivate and inspire staff to achieve targets
- Full understanding of the technical issues and ability to keep up to date with new accounting rules and regulations
- Experience within the Financial Services/Fintech space will be an advantage
