Purpose and Scope
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for performing critical functions in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, supporting a growing company that plays a vital role in national defense. The primary responsibilities include the utilization of blueprints and models, creating manufacturing plans, programs, and documentation for various manufacturing processes, including set up, operation, and training on the state-of-the-art CNC mills, lathes, and mill/turn machine tools. The right person for this position uses their design, operations, costs, and creative expertise to work with a team to streamline the manufacturing processes to increase productivity without sacrificing quality. In this position, attention to detail is crucial. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
Objectives
PERFORMANCE: The primary focus of this role will be to reduce the time it takes to plan machining projects and produce a First Article (FAI) part by 50%
TECHNOLOGY: Increase manufacturing efficiency and throughput by maximizing the capabilities of all machine tools and programming software systems
ORGANIZATION: Improve operational workflow and throughput through ProShop ERP utilization, Value Stream Mapping, and other relevant techniques to eliminate waste through continuous improvement

Create new ways of producing products for new or current ventures by utilizing findings from research, knowledge of the product, expense information and company goals
Utilize work orders and blueprints to determine the most straightforward and fastest manufacturing process with consideration of required tolerances and GD&T for machined components, weldments, and assemblies
Utilize Mastercam and NCSimul to provide CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis mill and mill-turn machines
Utilize on machine part probing system (BLUM & Renishaw) to ensure component conformance and allow for lightly attended or unattended processing
Provide robust, repeatable processes that are easily handed off to a machinist or operator for machining Heat Resistant Super Alloys (HRSA) and other exotic materials
Coach and train machinists, programmers, and setup employees to ensure the successful execution of manufacturing plans
Continually develop an understanding of Lean and waste (value added vs. non-value added) to see waste and then eliminate waste through continuously improving everything, starting with yourself
Support and comply with Quality Management System
Make recommendations to company leaders for the best use of production timelines, equipment, and supplies, and give projections related to the company s manufacturing goals

Organizational Relationships
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer reports to the VP of Operations and has support responsibilities for Quality Assurance, Mission Assurance, and Supply Chain.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor s degree in Engineering related discipline preferred
8-10 years of CNC programming experience required
10-15 years of working in machining environments - required
Working knowledge and experience with Solidworks 3D modeling software required
Familiarity with ERP, Microsoft Office, and other technical software systems required
Thorough understanding of Quality Management Systems - required
Ability to pass a background check and hold a security clearance required
US citizen- required
Excellent attention to detail and time management
Ability to provide feedback both verbally and in writing
