Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Support and demonstrate practices consistent with the mission, philosophy, standards, policies, and procedures of St. Luke Health Services
  • Possess a positive attitude and ability to deal with staff, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public in a professional manner
  • Evaluate and direct resident care in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director of Nursing
  • Assume duties of charge/medication/treatment nurse in emergencies
  • Give concise, accurate, and qualitative reports from shift to oncoming supervisor
  • Ensure all nursing service personnel are following their respective job descriptions
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms. Reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of St. Luke s quality assurance program
  • Make frequent rounds on all nursing units to ensure nursing personnel are performing work assignments
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information
  • Monitor nursing care to ensure all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect
  • Remain aware of changes in residents conditions and inform the family of any changes
  • Assist in the in-service training of all nursing personnel
  • Monitor and assist the residents in the dining room for meals.
  • Confirm physician orders are carried out accurately
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Director

Successful Candidates Must Have:

  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing
  • Hold current registration and current RN licensures in the State of New York
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical and managerial experience in a long-term care facility preferred
  • Valid CPR Certification
  • Excellent team management skills
  • Good understanding of social, psychological, and recreational needs of the aged
  • Must function independently with integrity and flexibility
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Sincere desire to work with the aged
  • Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing programs
