Job Summary:

The Senior Buyer will research and purchase products for resale at retail stores.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Â.

May Hire, train, and oversee subordinate staff.

Â.

May Oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.

Â.

Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Â.

Oversees and maintains inventory.

Â.

Researches, analyses, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products with attention to specified target market and demographics.

Â.

Develops and maintains relationships with wholesalers and suppliers.

Â.

Negotiates contracts with wholesalers and suppliers.

Â.

Assesses financial risks of purchases.

Â.

Attends Trade shows, product exhibitions, and conferences to maintain understanding of new products and trends.

Â.

May Act in place of the director of purchasing as required and authorized.

Â.

Performs Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

Â.

Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Â.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Â.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Â.

Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.

Â.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

Â.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, or related field preferred.

Â.

Three to five years of retail experience required.

Physical Requirements:

Â.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Â.

Must Be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Â.

Must Be able to travel to trade shows regularly and retail locations.
