Turing is looking for a remote Back-end/ML Engineer on behalf of a rapidly-growing healthtech startup that enables users to quickly search for hospitals and compare prices. The engineer will be responsible for designing the database, ML algorithm, and integrating the completed back-end with the front-end for a functional web app. The company strives to make healthcare pricing information and health plans more accessible to people and reimagine the patient experience. This will be a full-time, long-term role requiring some overlap with the EST time zone. It is an excellent opportunity for developers to work in a highly collaborative and agile software development environment while coordinating closely with leadership.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute the full software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- At least 3+ years of relevant experience as a back-end or ML engineer
- Proven working experience in Python and Java
- Familiarity with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
- Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the entire software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control (GitHub), etc.
- Excellent understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
- Experience with one or more of the following: text understanding, classification, pattern recognition, recommendation systems, Natural Language Processing is nice to have
- Experience with machine learning libraries is desirable
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize activities and deliver projects on time and within budget
