We require a Family Support Worker to join our team based in Ealing for our brand new service. The aim is that you help people early enough by identifying what support is available to the parents of people with disabilities.
The role will consist of providing lots of support and advice to parents via email, face to face and over the phone. For parents who don't know where to go, you will help them by providing short-term intensive advice and practical interventions.
You will be working with parents and families, other professionals, and will make assessments to identify interventions to benefit the parents as our Family Support Worker. You will be expected to identify trends and changes that affect people's lives which will help us to make a positive impact.
We have many resources for our Family Support Worker as well as ongoing training throughout your time with us. The support services that we recommend may be provided by Mencap or other agencies, covering a range of activities and support mechanisms.
We will also be creating an online resource hub, which the Family Support Worker will assist us in. This will be beneficial for parents and families who may need support.
You should be an individual who has previous experience in advisory, administration, or a coordination role. Bonus if you've worked in counselling, social care or psychology backgrounds or for the local services.
You will be a confident individual who will work on the phone and deal with an array of people. You must also have good written English as you ll be creating professional emails.
You should have an understanding of the challenges disabled children and their families face.
Our expectations are that you will have basic knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
As part of this role, the Family Support Worker must be happy to travel around Ealing.
You ll be available for work Monday - Friday and be okay to work some weekends where needed.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS and provide references.
You will get the opportunity to help hundreds of parents who don't know where to go as well as being able to develop a service in its infancy.
You ll contribute to the systems and processes that we have in place, with the opportunity to recommend more effective ways of working to further assist those in need.
You will be building awareness of Ealing Mencap as a brand through the success of our Family Support Services, while making sure that those in need can find the help they need.
You will have all the support you need, with more formal training and certifications, the chance to develop skills on the job in marketing, administration, and operations, and from the extremely experienced team here at Ealing Mencap.
