About the Job
The Systems Administration Specialist reports directly to the Force Communications Operations Officer. He/she is required to undertake all servicing and maintenance of computer, server, print and scanning equipment along with related software used by the company
He/she will assist the IS Engineer when necessary for overall server and computer system policy implementation and provide assistance to CHC colleagues and at other sites if required. The scope of operations includes South Camp and all remotes sites, manned and unmanned, in the Southern sector
- Configuration of PCs to a standard build for network and Internet access using approved software builds.
- Provide 2nd-line support for troubleshooting of PC faults, and escalate in accordance with ICT Service Desk Procedures.
- Preventative and corrective maintenance on all types of computer equipment, both standalone and connected to Local Area Networks as directed by the South Camp ICT Maintenance Manager.
- Installation, removal and repair of peripheral equipment as required.
- Maintain, in coordination with the Information Systems Engineer, the servers and backup systems, to include associated software, supporting South Camp users and southern sector remote sites.
- Bench checking, fault finding and repair of all types of PC systems to BIOS level.
- Removal of PC's and Peripherals in accordance Off Base Repair Warranty policy.
- Installation and maintenance of both network-attached and locally-installed printers and scanning equipment.
- End-user support of PC and communications equipment.
- Support to CCTV systems and video recording systems.
- Maintenance of Fiber Optic/CAT 6/5E/5 backbone cabling systems.
- Maintains record of all maintenance services, effectively and efficiently, as outlined by ICT Service Desk procedures.
- Operates out of ICT Service Desk along with other South Camp ICT Maintenance Team members and fields initial trouble calls, provides initial troubleshooting and raises and assigns work orders when necessary.
- Performs emergency and out of hours duties as required based on a rotating on-call shift schedule maintained in the section.
