Health & Safety Manager at Elaraby Hospital

Job Description

• Develops and promotes safety /loss prevention, occupational health and fire control programs.
• Reviews and interprets national and international safety and fire standards.
• Determines applicability of these to the hospital. Oversees implementation of programs. Modifies programs as necessary.
• Reviews plans for construction of new buildings, modification of existing buildings and installation of equipment and machinery.
• Ensures that buildings, equipment and machinery conform to safety requirements and practices, including installation.
• Monitors areas where there are health hazards from toxic chemicals, radiological or biological substances to initiate recommendations for preventive safety measures, as well as institutes a systematic approach to management of hazardous materials and takes corrective action.
  Oversees and supervises the employee safety and fire training programs, as well as on-job and off-job safety education.
• Acts as advisor to the CEO, Director and Support Services on all matters concerning safety / loss prevention.
• Acts as consultant for external government agencies and private establishment in matters pertaining to safety, loss prevention and fire prevention and fire prevention / protection.
• Plans, organizes, implements and coordinates Safety Department in order to provide high standard of a multiple trustworthy safety for employees, the hospital complex in order to meet the requirements of Hospital within the recommendations and policies of the Hospital.
• Establishes and develops the necessary Policies and / or Procedures for the control of job performance within the department.
• Provides reports and information to the hospital departments on matters related to safety.
• Develops and interprets data regarding departmental activities,. Evaluates department’s annual reports prior to their submission to the CEO.
• Utilizes modern technology and procedures in the field of industrial safety and fire prevention to the best interest of the hospital. Ensures that all new projects, expansions and renovations are executed within the established industrial safety standards.
• Reports on all emergency calls.
• Directs activities of the safety section.
• Establishes work schedules.
• Assigns work to subordinates and changes assignments to meet changing conditions.
• Checks work in progress after completion to ensure that it meets proper standards.
• Evaluates performance of subordinates.
• Counsels subordinates to improve performance.
• Recommends disciplinary action.
• Determines training needs of subordinates.
• Reviews employment applications. Interviews candidates and makes hiring recommendations.
• Acts as liaison on all matters concerning industrial safety / loss prevention.
• Responsible to disaster scenes as a member of the Disaster Management team or on –site coordinator.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in safety related field required
• 5 years of Experience in safety or related experience including three(3) years in supervisory capacity required.
• Preferred to have experience in Medical filed as the work location will be El-Araby Hospital.
• Strong command in spoken and written English
• Good Computer Skills.
• Preferred courses and certification:

1. OSHA & NEBOSH.
2. Electric burns and disaster management training courses.
3. The basic and advanced quality courses.
4. Strategic planning training courses.
5. Resources and time management training courses.
6. risk management training courses.
