Kollista seeks a Desktop Support Engineer for its Computing & Information Services Division. This position will be responsible for providing computer/server/network support for desktops and end points, as well as, managing centralized configuration tools for OS and Software deployments and patching. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provides technical support, assistance and consultation to students, faculty, staff and/or lower level consultants on assigned areas. Answers questions on-site or via telephone. Manages user accounts, provides permissions/email account sharing, and creates/deletes shared server folders. Resolves, escalates or refers technical problems as appropriate.
Manages Centralized Systems for end point deployment, software delivery and system and software patching for Windows and Mac devices. Manages user accounts and permissions to access local workstations, as well as, network related access.
Analyzes user needs and evaluates new products; recommends hardware and software purchases. Collaborates with other units to improve access to and maximize use of computing resources.
Installs and troubleshoots software and hardware. Performs backup and system restore procedures as assigned.
Uses streamlined tools for providing efficient end user support, e.g. remote assistance, ticket queue managing system.
Performs analytical, technical and administrative work to plan, design and install networked and stand-alone computer systems for offices, conferences rooms, etc. Provides replacement recommendations and budget estimates as requested. May assist with assigned areaâs technology asset management.
Develops documentation, user procedures and security procedures. Contributes to the establishment and maintenance of software and documentation libraries.
Stays informed of new developments and technologies.
Requirements
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience joining device to Active Directory.
Hands-on command-line troubleshoot experience with Linux/Unix systems, e.g. Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat and Solaris. Hands-on experience with encrypting windows and mac desktop and laptop and recovery.
Extensive knowledge in Mac OS, MS Windows, various UNIX/Linux based OS, IOS and Android platforms
Extensive hands-on experience in PC/Mac hardware maintenance, upgrading and troubleshooting.
Extensive hands-on experience in the installation/use of various client software packages including but not limited to MS Office, Adobe software, Mac software, Terminal Emulators, Email Clients, etc.
Extensive hands-on experience with scripting languages for Unix/Linux, Mac OS and Windows based systems such as C & Power Shell scripts, Applescript, etc.
Extensive hands-on experience of desktop and related network security tasks and resolving issues
Extensive hands-on experience of using remote assistant tools to support remote users
Extensive hands-on experience of using centralized ticketing system for managing and delegating requests with ability to prioritize the request based on SLAs.
Detailed hands-on experience of maintaining Active Directory user accounts and bind/join devices to AD on Windows, OSX and Linux.
Detailed hands-on experience of using server systems for Desktop/Endpoint Management Tools, e.g. SCCM, Jamf or equivalent systems.
Detailed knowledge of file structures and file access methods
Working knowledge of industry standards for computer hardware and software
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and work in a collaborative manner at various organizational levels.
