VIB isan entrepreneurial non-profit research institute, with a clear focus onground-breaking strategic basic research in life sciences and operates in closepartnership with the five universities in Flanders Ghent University, KULeuven, University of Antwerp, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and HasseltUniversity.

Toreinforce our IT team, the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology VIB inZwijnaarde is looking for an IT system administrator/engineer. You will be partof the IT team of VIB, which maintains the network backbone, data center withphysical and virtual servers, and storage array as well as user services andapplications and end-user computers. Together with other team members, you willbe responsible for maintaining and improving our centralized IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Installing,maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing the network infrastructure to ensure arobust and secure environment
• Designingcustom infrastructure solutions for our scientists
• Maintainingand optimizing our virtualized environments
• Proactivelycontribute to the improvement of the quality of the services and infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor'sdegree in computer science and/or equivalent through demonstrated relevant
• Experience as a system- and/or network administrator
• Youhave a broad knowledge of IT infrastructure
• Experiencein administrating a (complex) network
• Youare motivated to help improve the infrastructure according to best practices and follow the latest innovations
• Youhave experience in using Linux environments.
• You know when to use windows, Linux and Unix.
• You have excellent knowledge of at least 3 from the following: Cisco, radiusnetworks, Active Directory, VMWare, scripting/automation, network security,mail relay, firewall, OpenStack
• Youare communicative and can work independently in a team context
• Experiencewith Office365, Azure ad, and azure virtualization is an asset
• Experiencewith scripting and continuous integration is a plus
• You have a good knowledge of written and spoken English
• Knowledge of written and spoken Dutch is an asset
