Key Responsibilities
1. Construction Contracting & Project Agreements
- Assist in drafting reviewing and negotiating constructionrelated contracts including EPC designbuild supply and subcontracting agreements.
- Support contract negotiations with contractors suppliers and engineering firms.
- Ensure construction contracts incorporate risk mitigation strategies performance guarantees and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Monitor contract variations claims and enforcement to protect company interests.
- Adapt to and apply relevant industrystandard contracts (FIDIC or others) as required.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Construction Approvals
- Assist in obtaining construction permits environmental approvals and landuse permissions in compliance with Omani regulations.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes zoning laws health and safety regulations and environmental impact requirements.
- Support regulatory interactions with municipal authorities the Ministry of Housing & Urban Planning and other government bodies overseeing construction activities.
- Maintain and update regulatory records approvals and compliance filings.
3. Risk Management & Dispute Resolution
- Support the management of constructionrelated disputes including contract enforcement delays and claims.
- Assist in handling regulatory challenges noncompliance issues and contractor obligations.
- Work with external counsel and consultants on litigation arbitration or mediation if required.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Law Business Law or other related field.
- Experience: 3 5 years in construction law project contracting or regulatory compliance preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm handling constructionrelated legal matters.
- Legal Admission: Qualification to practice in Oman. Legal experience in other GCC jurisdictions is a plus.
Expertise in:
- Construction project contracting EPC agreements and project frameworks.
- Regulatory compliance for construction including permitting approvals and safety regulations.
- Building codes zoning laws and environmental regulations applicable in Oman.
Language Skills: Excellent communication skills in English required; Arabic proficiency preferred.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a legal team and support companywide initiatives.
- High level of confidentiality and professional ethics.
