Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detailoriented Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records managing accounts payable and receivable reconciling bank statements and assisting with payroll. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and update financial records including general ledger entries accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Accounts Payable: Process and record vendor invoices perform 2way and 3way matching issue payments and maintain vendor files.
- Accounts Receivable: Generate and send invoices apply payments and follow up on overdue accounts to ensure timely collections.
- Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll preparation including processing employee timesheets calculating wages and handling benefit deductions and garnishments.
- Expense Tracking: Record and categorize company expenses ensuring proper documentation and adherence to budget guidelines.
- MonthEnd Closing: Assist with monthend closing activities including journal entries account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
- Reporting: Prepare financial reports including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements for management review.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations tax laws and company policies.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations of financial transactions.
- Data Entry: Maintain accurate and uptodate records in the accounting system ensuring all transactions are recorded promptly.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 25 years of bookkeeping or general accounting experience.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Xero Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with payroll processing bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
