Construction Engineer

Chicago consulting firm is hiring a talented Construction Engineer to join their growing team!


Responsibilities:

• Lead project management, execution and quality assurance of large transportation projects
• Supervise a small staff and evaluate their performance
• Understand/interpret local, state and/or federal specifications and procedures
• Identify/resolve project issues
• Analyze/evaluate contractor proposals
• Build/maintain client relationships
• Communicate with external project groups
• Responsible for project finances
• Observe/document project progress
• Perform Constructability Reviews
• Plan, coordinate and supervise subconsultants work
• Enforce project scope and approve invoices for payment
• Lead progress meetings and attend outside meetings related to the project
• Assist with budget/contract completion, process RFI’s and change orders and maintain project documentation

Requirements:

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering
• 5+ years of experience managing construction projects
• 2+ years of experience as a supervisory
• Extensive experience in DOT and Toll Road experience
• Experience working on transportation and/or water construction jobs exceeding $10 million preferred
• Familiar with documentation requirements/inspection procedures preferred
• Understanding of complex construction issues (structural issues, mass earthwork, roadway geometry), basic surveying (horizontal/vertical control) and material terminology/design
• Experience with MS Office products
